Please Pray and Listen if You Can

Today, I will be on a local radio and television show hosted by Alabama State Senator, Hank Erwin. He is a conservative talk show host, who read my articles on pornography for a state denominational newspaper.

I am very nervous about this appearance as I am just not sure what to expect. He is dedicating the full hour program to interviewing me about pornography and sexual addiction, which I am happy to hear.

I was initially not going to accept this invitation, but some wise friends asked me the following questions - "Is there a chance that somebody could be helped by your appearance on the show?" I answered "Yes." Then they asked, "Is there a chance that anybody, other than you, could get hurt by your appearance on the show?" I answered, "No." They then each said, "Well isn't that the Gospel? That you get hurt so that others can be helped? Is it modeling Christ to avoid the show, or appear?" Ouch. So I called and said I would do it.

If you have the time and opportunity, please pray for me. Please pray that God is glorified and the Gospel will go forth. Please pray that people will be helped, and that I will be gracious and humble in my responses.

The show airs on 92.5 FM in Birmingham from 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM CST. You can listen online by clicking here and then clicking the listen online button in the upper right hand corner of the screen. If, like me, you use a mac, know that you'll have to download windows media player and use safari for this to work. (PC stands for piece of crap, by the way)

Thank you for praying!

I prayed today, hard, on my knees, that the words of the true gospel of Jesus Christ, come out of your mouth and over the airwaves today!

The most important vs. to me in the bible, is not John 3:16, its John 3:17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world but to save the world through him!

You are being interviewed by exactly the kind of person whom we at evan-radical.com are trying to be just the opposite of. I dont think that human beings really know why New Orleans was put through what it was put through, could it possibly to wake us up to have compassion for one another? Could it be an extreme exercise in Loving My Neighbor? My church responded with food, clothing, and didnt ponder the WHY. Christian Sprituality is about ACTION NOT WORDS.

But also know that my God calls me to love Senator Erwin, also and have compassion for him!

U might tell senator Erwin that everything dark that has ever gone on in New Orleans, goes on in his neighborhood! He just doesnt know it!

My favorite part of the big book of Alcoholics Anonymous:

Abandon yourself to God as you understand God. Admit your faults to HIM and your fellows. Clear away the wreckage of your past. Give Freely of what you find and join us. We shall be with you in the Fellowship of the Spirit, and you will surely meet some of us as you trudge the Road of Happy Destiny. May God Bless you and keep you-until then.

    Hey Barron,

Dude, I seriously need to meet you in person. You and Oteil are such encouragers to me.

I agree with you about John 3:17. It is THE evangelistic verse for our day and age. People today are not believers not because they haven't heard the Gospel - but because they have never seen the Gospel. Big difference.

Many are quick to throw the law out there, but God always offers grace in front of the law. The Hebrews were delivered from bondage BEFORE they received the ten commandments.

It's heart change, not behavior change. That's the main message of the sermon on the mount. Jesus wants our hearts, if we truly yield our hearts, our behavior will follow. The Fruits come from our roots, baby.

Hey, if you have the time, please listen to the show and let me know your thoughts.

I just want to proclaim the Gospel, and glorify God, man - that's it.

Thanks for the encouragement, I really appreciate it.

So how'd it go, brother? Sorry I missed it. It the interview archived online anywhere?

  • Tal Prince Says:

    Hey Anonymous,
Thanks for checking. The interview went very well, and I was very pleased. God was gracious, and I believe He was glorified in the hour, and the Gospel definitely went out several times.

It is not archived to my knowledge, but Senator Erwin promised to make a copy of the show for me. Hopefully we'll post that on the Tapestry website, or here on the blog.

    Thanks for asking!

    Grace and Peace,
